Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 24th, 2024

This policy describes our approach towards data collection when you use our services ("Services"), such as when you:

  • Visit our website at alkemion.com, or any website of ours that links to this privacy notice.
  • Use our application Alkemion Studio.
  • Engage with us in other related ways, including any sales, marketing, or events.

Alkemion is committed to protecting your personal privacy while using our Services. This policy describes what data we collect and persist, and under what circumstances it is used. This document will be updated from time to time - the date of the most recent revision will be reflected at the top of the document.

What personal information do the Services collect, and how is that information used?

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate our Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

We do NOT send any analytics data to a third party service and we use Matomo Analytics, an open-source privacy friendly software as our internal solution. Our analytics assists us in understanding where our users are visiting from, how they discovered Alkemion, and which advertising or promotional channels are working most effectively for us to grow and improve our service.

How and why do the Services use cookies?

We use cookies to store your browsing session which allows you to navigate our Services without being prompted to log in on every page. This session cookie is essential to the functionality of our Services and cannot be disabled.

We also use cookies for our internal analytics (see earlier). We use Matomo Analytics, an open-source privacy friendly software. Detailed information on the cookies created by Matomo Analytics can be found at the following url: https://matomo.org/faq/general/faq_146/

What personal data do the Services collect?

If you register a user account for our Services, we only store a session identifier to communicate with third party authentication services such as Discord or Google. Other optional details are stored as part of your application settings. The website does not use your personal information as an input into any automated decision-making system.

If you create an account for our Services, you will be prompted to agree to our Terms of Service (”ToS”). When you agree to this ToS, your account will be created and a unique identifier - which is not personally identifiable - will be provided by the authentication third party (Discord or Google) and stored in our database.

What usage data do Alkemion Studio collect?

As long as the application is in a beta testing phase, usage data is collected to help us improve Alkemion Studio. This data helps us to answer questions like "which features generate errors?", "which parts of the interface create difficulties for the user?", and "how many of our users use a trackpad to navigate in their boards?".

The usage data collected by the software does not contain any personally identifying information and is not shared with any other party.

Where is the collected data stored?

The data we do retain is stored in a private database protected using modern web security and encryption standards. The servers are hosted at OVHcloud, in France. We do not sell, trade, or transfer any individual data to outside parties.

How can I request my personal information to be deleted?

To request the deletion of your website account and all its data, you may send an email to support@alkemion.com from the email address associated with your website account or associated with the third party account used to sign-in (Discord or Google).
